Flow of electricity is key to the workings of our bodies. When you think, electricity flows in your brain. When you move a muscle, electricity flows along your nerves from the brain to the muscle, causing movement.
Flow of electricity is key to the workings of our machines: computers, CD players. This one is obvious.
The difference is that in our bodies, water is the conductor of choice. But to the machines we have invented, water is deadly. Their electronics are solid state--metal and silicon. They prefer dry, atmosphereless environments.
It is theorized in many science-ficton books that any artificial intelligence would have to have some sort of gun put to its head, so as to insure that it did not get out of control. I think the most potent weapon against such a computer intelligence is water.
It is possible that electricity IS life. If that is true, then our machines are primitive life forms, quite possible the next step in evolution.
i also theorize that we are more tied to the earth than we might expect. Perhaps the electromagnetic field of the earth is the catalyst of our brains. Perhaps if we left the immediate area of the earth (even farther than the moon) our brains would either begin to operate at vastly different frequencies than normal (0-30hz) or perhaps not function at all. We are so caught up in 1. religions that glorify the human self and individual apart from our environment, and 2. science fiction that shows us travelling the galaxies, that we perhaps have overlooked the importance of our planet to our existance.
